Genocidal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu included Turkish-American Twitch streamer and political commentator Hasan Piker among those he criticized in his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

While targeting Mamdani over his position on Israel and Gaza, Netanyahu directly named Piker and raised the streamer’s controversial past remarks about the September 11 attacks.
Addressing Mamdani, Netanyahu criticized people in his circle and referred to Hasan Piker, recalling Piker’s remark from years earlier that “America deserved 9/11.”
Piker made the remark during a Twitch stream in 2019, sparking major controversy. He later explained that the statement was provocative and that he had not meant civilians who lost their lives in the attacks “deserved” it.

Hasan Piker’s name reaches the UN podium
Netanyahu’s direct targeting of Piker became one of the most widely noticed parts of the speech on social media.
By highlighting the political closeness between Mamdani and Piker, Netanyahu used it as part of his broader criticism of the New York mayor.
Netanyahu also accused Mamdani of antisemitism and rejected statements that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. Mamdani rejected Netanyahu’s accusations and continued to criticize the Israeli prime minister’s policy in Gaza.
Netanyahu’s direct mention of Hasan Piker at one of the world’s most important diplomatic platforms, the UN General Assembly, drew wide attention in the United States and on social media after the speech.
