Greece plans to sign a €3.1 billion agreement with Israel covering air defense systems. The agreement is expected to be signed in Tel Aviv on Monday.
The project aims to integrate Greece's air defense and unmanned aerial vehicle systems. As part of the plan, Greece's Patriot system and Israeli-made air defense systems are to be combined into an integrated structure.
Completion expected within 35 months
The project is expected to be completed within 35 months of the agreement's signing. Greek companies are planned to carry out work worth €700 million of the total contract.
Systems under consideration
Athens is considering purchasing Israel's SPYDER, Barak MX and David's Sling air defense systems.
The plan also calls for the use of artificial intelligence technologies to identify threats detected by the air defense systems. The technology is intended to reduce spending by Greece's armed forces.
