TAURUS Hedgehog, a project developed by GUMUSH Space Systems, received an award in the Entrepreneurship Competition held as part of the International Astronautical Congress IAC 2026.
In the competition, where nine ventures from various countries presented their projects to an international jury, five jury members evaluated the entries independently. Luigi Scatteia of Nova Space ranked the TAURUS Hedgehog project first in his assessment.
Scatteia presented the award to GUMUSH Space Systems CEO Murat Süer. Süer presented the TAURUS Hedgehog project in the competition.
Independent black box system for satellites
TAURUS Hedgehog is being designed as an independent space black box and mission safety system to enhance satellites' mission resilience and continuity.
The system is intended to independently record critical information with timestamps, including telemetry, telecommands, position and attitude data, software events, fault logs, subsystem health data and selected mission data.

The Hedgehog architecture is intended to preserve critical data and enable the subsequent analysis of incidents following system failures, radiation and thermal environmental effects, jamming, spoofing, cyberattacks and other operational anomalies.
The system can also be configured to separate from the main satellite when necessary and operate independently.
Developed on space-proven infrastructure
The TAURUS Hedgehog project is being developed on GUMUSH Space Systems' TAURUS 0.25U space infrastructure and flight experience, which have previously been used in space.
The company aims to further develop this infrastructure to enhance resilience, data security and mission continuity in next-generation small-satellite missions.
The competition held as part of IAC 2026 enabled ventures operating in the space technology sector to present their projects directly to a jury comprising international investors, industry representatives and experts.
