Halkbank secured $1.1 billion in additional financing from international markets after the criminal case filed against it in the United States concluded in the bank’s favor.
In a statement submitted to the Public Disclosure Platform, Halkbank said the conclusion of the case had increased its access to international financing.
External financing reaches $5 billion
The bank said it had secured $3.9 billion in external financing before the case was concluded through methods including additional tier 1 capital instruments and bilateral loan agreements.
With the latest financing, total external financing secured before and after the conclusion of the case reached $5 billion. Halkbank also reported a rapid increase in the number of its counterparties after the legal process was completed.
Global note program established
Following approval by its board of directors, Halkbank established a $5 billion Global Medium-Term Note Program on July 17.
Such programs allow financial institutions to issue multiple debt instruments in international markets under a single framework. They offer flexibility in terms of maturity, currency and issuance timing.
Strong investor interest
The bank said feedback received at investor presentations held with fixed-income securities investors, which did not involve a new issuance, indicated strong interest in the planned issuances.
Halkbank said it would continue assessing alternative financing channels to strengthen its presence in international markets and support a sustainable financing structure.
