The rules for identity verification in phone and internet subscriptions have changed. The new regulation aims to prevent unregistered lines.
Two new regulations issued by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority have completely revised the verification processes in subscription contracts. The effective date of the regulation is set as June 25.
According to the new rules, it will not be possible to open a line without a chip ID card, NFC, and live video verification. This will make identity checks in subscription procedures more stringent.
A new inspection system is also being introduced for existing lines. Lines will be checked every three months, and the verification process will be regularly monitored.
The regulation covers both phone and internet subscriptions. The goal is to establish a unified framework for identity verification standards across all electronic communication subscriptions.
