The bomb device prepared by Berkant K. was placed in Mehmet E.'s service vehicle by Baran A.
He ambushed with three friends. Mehmet E., suspecting a bag, noticed the device and left it in an abandoned building. Later, Berkant K. tried to detonate the device remotely. The explosion occurred just as Mehmet E. was about to enter his residence. No one was killed or injured in the incident. Following the explosion, an investigation was launched, and Polat E. along with his friends Abas A., Baran A., and Berkant K. were detained and arrested.

The indictment requested prison sentences ranging from 18 to 29 years for the defendants on charges of 'Attempted murder' and 'Possession or transfer of dangerous substances without permission.'
FATHER DID NOT FILE A COMPLAINT AT THE VERDICT HEARING The verdict hearing of the case was held at the 5th High Criminal Court of Mardin. At the hearing, Mehmet E. stated that his son did not intend to kill him and expressed that he was not filing a complaint. The defense lawyers also stated that their clients did not accept the accusations against them and requested their release.
When asked for their final words, the defendants reiterated their requests for release. Polat E. claimed he had no intent to kill and that the bomb device was not lethal. 3 DEFENDANTS SENTENCED The court sentenced Polat E. to 14 years and 2 months, Abas A. to 13 years and 4 months, and Baran A. to 10 years and 1 month in prison for 'Attempted murder,' and ordered their detention to continue.
Additionally, the defendants were sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison for 'Possession or transfer of dangerous substances without permission,' but this sentence was converted to a fine. Berkant K. was sentenced to 6 years in prison for 'Aiding attempted murder,' and considering the time he had already spent in detention, he was ordered to be released.
REASONED JUDGMENT ANNOUNCED The court's reasoned judgment stated that Polat E. aimed to gain inheritance by killing his father and planned the act in advance with Abas A. It was noted that the defendants discussed how to commit the murder for about two months and chose to place explosives in the service vehicle because they thought killing with a gun would leave evidence.
It was recorded that materials were procured to prepare the explosive device, the device was assembled, and placed in the victim's vehicle. The court evaluated that HTS records, bank transactions, phone examinations, crime scene investigation, forensic reports, and defendants' statements confirmed the crime.
The reasoned judgment also stated that Berkant K. assisted the other defendants in preparing and assembling the explosive device, contributed to procuring necessary materials, and directed the defendants. Therefore, the court ruled that Berkant K. participated in the act as an 'aider.'
