Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said Iran was not seeking a temporary ceasefire during the war, but instead aimed for a definitive end to the conflict.
Arguing that temporary ceasefires would pave the way for new clashes, Araghchi said such agreements would lead to a repetition of the war.
Regional security and the Persian Gulf
Assessing the region’s security architecture, Araghchi said a new security approach should be based on a shared understanding of security and efforts to address economic imbalances.
Araghchi said lasting peace in the Persian Gulf would not be possible without comprehensive regional cooperation.
The mediation roles of Qatar and Pakistan
Araghchi said Qatar and Pakistan were playing an effective mediating role between Iran and Washington, adding that relations between Tehran and Doha were at a very positive stage.
Pezeshkian’s approach to regional diplomacy
Araghchi said President Masoud Pezeshkian was playing an active role in developing relations with regional countries and strengthening diplomatic dialogue.
Araghchi said Pezeshkian’s regional visits had a significant impact on the development of relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq and Azerbaijan. He emphasized that a phone call between Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had completely changed the course of relations between the two countries and opened a new chapter.
Araghchi said the gains achieved through dialogue and diplomacy extended far beyond political tensions and conflict.
