The 76th World Foundry Congress, held in Istanbul under the theme "A Bright Start to the New Century: Shaping the New Ecosystem," has concluded. During the three-day congress, developments affecting production processes in the foundry industry, from efficiency to artificial intelligence, were discussed.
At sessions featuring contributions from academics, industry experts assessed innovative topics transforming foundry production processes. It was also announced that ANKIROS 2026, the 17th International Specialized Exhibition of Iron and Steel, Foundry, Nonferrous Metallurgy Technologies, Machinery and Products, would begin the following day.
The transformation of the metal industry
Messe Düsseldorf Project Director Malte Seifert said at a press conference on the final day of the congress that ANKIROS 2026 was an important event for heavy industry.
Seifert said the metal industry was critically important not only to the energy and mobility transition but also to digital infrastructure. He said ANKIROS 2026 was an important organization in this context.
Seifert said The Bright World of Metals 2027 Fair, which will be held next year, would also deliver important benefits for the industry. He noted that the event would show how the entire value chain—from materials to production, processes, facilities and solutions—was developing as a whole.
Seifert said the foundry and metallurgy industries should not be viewed as independent segments, adding that the transformation was advancing within an interconnected system. He said this integration would be showcased at The Bright World of Metals.
New marketing strategies to be presented in Düsseldorf
Till Schreiter, chairman of the board of the VDMA Metallurgy and Thermoprocess Technology Association, said Bright World of Metals brought together ANKIROS in Türkiye, regional trade fairs in India and local markets.
Schreiter said Bright World of Metals in Düsseldorf would bring together the global community, including the United States, South America, Asia and Europe. He said companies were reserving their new marketing strategies, product developments and technology launches for the Düsseldorf event because the fair is held every four years.
Following the meeting, representatives of the event’s sponsoring companies—Marmara Metal, Kutes Metal, Ceylan Bentonit, Foseco Türkiye, Çukurova Kimya and Metko Hüttenes-Albertus—delivered speeches.
