Justice Minister Akın Gürlek made new statements about the fund investigation being conducted in the capital markets. Gürlek said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was closely monitoring the investigation process.

Gürlek said he had held meetings on the matter with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, adding that the process had been assessed in all its aspects at meetings also attended by the heads of the Capital Markets Board (SPK) and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).
Gürlek emphasized that the investigation was ongoing and said the necessary steps to address investor grievances were targeted for implementation shortly.
Gürlek said activity in the fund market had been monitored for some time and that work on the issue had also been conducted during his tenure as Istanbul chief public prosecutor. He said unusual price movements had been detected in some funds and shares, and explained that the SPK's criminal complaint or authorization was important in proceedings under the Capital Markets Law.

“Our aim is to ensure that victims recover their money”
Gürlek said funds that had been attempted to be taken abroad had also been identified, adding that one of their main objectives was to bring these assets back and help compensate affected investors for their losses.
Gürlek said measures had been taken against the suspects' assets and procedures had been carried out to prevent money transfers as part of the investigation, adding that the investigation could be expanded.
The Justice Minister said the judiciary would continue contributing to the proper conduct of the process within the powers granted by law and to protecting the financial system.
