Kazancı Holding Chairman Cemil Kazancı met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent during the first meeting of the Council of Investors in the Fuel and Energy Sector.
The meeting addressed Kazancı Holding's existing investments in Uzbekistan's energy sector, new cooperation opportunities and projects aimed at modernizing the country's electricity infrastructure.
Energy investments in Uzbekistan expand
Aksa Energy, which operates under Kazancı Holding, has reached a total installed capacity of 1,220 megawatts in Uzbekistan through its power plants in Tashkent, Bukhara and Talimarjan. The holding has invested more than $700 million in these plants to date.
Aksa Electricity, the group's power distribution company, is preparing to operate in new distribution regions in Uzbekistan following Samarkand. The company won an international tender and undertook the operation of Samarkand's electricity distribution network for 30 years.
$200 million plan across four regions
Opportunities to operate electricity distribution services in three additional regions alongside Samarkand are being assessed. Approximately $200 million is expected to be invested in the distribution sector across four regions over the next two years.
The new investments aim to modernize electricity distribution networks, increase operational efficiency and provide consumers with more reliable and uninterrupted energy services.
Education investments also planned
Kazancı Holding plans to contribute to education and social development by building schools in every region where it invests. Mirziyoyev welcomed this approach.
Mirziyoyev said he supported expanding the electricity distribution cooperation that began in Samarkand to new regions.
Cemil Kazancı said Uzbekistan holds a strategic position in the holding's global and long-term plans. Kazancı said President Mirziyoyev's reform vision and the strong ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan provide a solid foundation for deepening investments.
"In the new period, we will continue to take responsibility for the country's energy transition by combining our presence in energy generation with our expertise in electricity distribution. We will invest in the transformation and modernization of Uzbekistan's energy system."
Kazancı said they aim to build in Uzbekistan schools similar to those donated to Türkiye's national education system, adding that they seek to contribute to the country's energy supply security and sustainable development through these investments.
