A Paris court ordered symbolic compensation of €1 for Kim Kardashian over the armed robbery she suffered in 2016. Kardashian’s friend and stylist Simone Harouche also received €1 in compensation as one of those affected by the incident.
Kardashian and Harouche said the ruling was important not so much for the financial compensation as for accountability and recognition of what they experienced. They thanked the French justice system and those who supported them throughout the case, saying they hoped to continue overcoming the effects of the trauma.
The robbery took place during Paris Fashion Week
The incident occurred in October 2016, while Kardashian was in the French capital for Paris Fashion Week and staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès. A group of men, some disguised as police officers, entered the building in the early morning.
Kardashian was held at gunpoint, tied with plastic restraints and tape, and placed in a bathroom. The assailants searched the residence and took jewelry worth millions of euros, including the engagement ring given to her by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West.
Most of the stolen jewelry was never recovered. French authorities detained 17 suspects during the investigation, 10 of whom stood trial in Paris in 2025.

Kardashian testified at the trial
Kardashian traveled to Paris to testify at the trial. She told the court that she feared being sexually assaulted and killed during the robbery.
In May 2025, seven men and one woman were convicted of crimes linked to the robbery. The defendants included Aomar Ait Khedache, whom investigators identified as the organizer of the robbery.
Because some of the defendants were in their 60s and 70s when the case went to trial, the French media referred to them as “les papys braqueurs,” meaning “grandpa robbers.”
The civil ruling issued on Tuesday set the compensation to be paid to Kardashian and the other people affected by the crime, nearly nine years after the robbery.
