TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş stated that Turkey is an important power in its region, progressing towards becoming a global actor, and is not a burden for Europe but rather a guarantee for the future. Emphasis on a Turkey without terrorism
Kurtulmuş said that Turkey focuses externally on peace agreements, negotiations, and bringing different views closer. Internally, he stated that the most important issue is terrorism and explained that a strong will has been demonstrated to solve this problem.
Highlighting the work of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission established in the TBMM, Kurtulmuş expressed that the issue of terrorism will now be left behind. In his speech, he also mentioned the goal of a new era where all citizens are equal, free, and first-class citizens.
According to Kurtulmuş, this new era means a political and social ground where no one is segregated because of their ethnic origin, sect, or denomination. He also said that a social climate has begun in which no citizen of the Republic of Turkey would consider armed struggle.
The balance of power in the world is changing
In the international dimension of his speech, Kurtulmuş argued that the world has entered an era where no country can determine direction alone. According to him, the defining feature of the upcoming period will be multi-centeredness, and new power centers will emerge in different regions.
Kurtulmuş stated that Turkey, with its geostrategic position, expansion potential, political stability, and economy, is one of the rising stars, and that the country is increasing its influence not only in its region but also globally.
Context: Kurtulmuş’s message pointed to a framework where Turkey positions itself as a strategic balancing element both in relations with Europe and in the fight against terrorism domestically.
At the end of his speech, Kurtulmuş said that Turkey should act with a line centered on a peace perspective, reducing hostilities around it and continuing its path by strengthening friendships and alliances.
