Paris Saint-Germain's Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia posted an emotional message after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Barcelona.
The 25-year-old twisted his right knee shortly before the hour mark while chasing Barcelona's Xavi Espart in PSG's 4-2 Champions League win at the Parc des Princes on Oct. 20. Unable to put weight on the leg, he was helped off by medical staff.

PSG said he had torn the ACL in his right knee and would undergo surgery in the coming days. The club gave no return date; recovery from such injuries typically takes nine to 12 months after surgery.
'I must come back strong for my people'
"Many people tell me about my praying before matches: 'If every footballer in the world prayed, every match would end in a draw.' Before every game I only wished to leave the pitch healthy. It was in vain. The same thing keeps spinning in my head: why me?" Kvaratskhelia wrote.
"I understand that God chose me. If this way I protected other players on the pitch, I am ready to spend the coming months in pain, working, in tears. I must come back strong for my people, who have always been by my side," he said, adding: "I will not betray you. I promise I won't stop working for even a second."
Kvaratskhelia, a 2026 Ballon d'Or nominee, joined PSG from Napoli in January 2025. PSG's Ousmane Dembele and captain Marquinhos will also be treated for thigh injuries over the next few weeks.
