The Turkish Air Force Command carried out a training firing at the Sinop firing range with the domestically developed long-range SİPER air defense system in its inventory. The system, developed by ROKETSAN, scored a direct hit on its target.
Chief of General Staff Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu and Air Force Commander Gen. Rafet Dalkıran observed the firing on site. ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol, ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci and TÜBİTAK SAGE Director Kemal Topalömer also attended.
The Ministry of National Defense released footage of the launch and the impact. ROKETSAN described the result as a "direct hit from SİPER, the impenetrable strength of our long-range air defense."
Range of over 100 km

According to defense industry sources, the SİPER Block-1 missile used in the firing has a range of more than 100 km and an intercept altitude above 20 km. The 5.4-meter missile uses data link and satellite-aided inertial guidance in mid-course and an active radar seeker in the terminal phase. Block-2, still in development, is designed to exceed 150 km.
SİPER was developed to counter long-range and high-altitude threats such as fighter jets, cruise missiles and air-to-ground munitions, and is a core element of Türkiye's layered Steel Dome air defense architecture. Block-1 and Block-2 missiles also hit their targets in tests in June.
