Sheila Ebana, the mother of Barcelona’s 19-year-old star Lamine Yamal, toured Istanbul after traveling to the city for her son’s team’s Champions League match. On Oct. 17, she posted photos from the trip on her Instagram account with a Turkish flag and a note in Spanish: “Here are a few photos from Türkiye.”
Galatasaray and Barcelona met in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League on Oct. 13 at RAMS Park, where Barcelona won 4-1. Among the photos Ebana posted is one of her watching the match from the stands.

One of her photos was taken in the courtyard of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, better known as the Blue Mosque. Another shows the historic main gate of Istanbul University in Beyazıt with a Turkish flag. Ebana also added a photo of herself wearing a headscarf inside a mosque. According to the Sabah newspaper, she also visited the New Mosque (Yeni Cami) in Eminönü with friends and toured the city’s historic sites with a private guide.

The trip’s food stops also made it into the photos. On Ebana’s table were baklava and tea served in porcelain cups. The colorful display of a pastry shop was also among the photos she posted.

One photo caught the eye of football fans. In a shop, Lamine Yamal’s No. 19 jersey hung side by side with the No. 15 jersey of Turkish national team player Arda Güler.

After Istanbul, on Oct. 18 Ebana also added a video filmed on her way back from Seville, with a note in Spanish: “Finally back home, and with another win.”
Sheila Ebana, who has roots in Equatorial Guinea, is Lamine Yamal’s mother; the player’s father, Mounir Nasraoui, is of Moroccan origin. Ebana, who has a large following on Instagram, announced at the end of September that she had received a magazine cover and an award in Forbes Spain’s selection of best content creators.
