In a fraud investigation in Antalya, Fatih A., a lecturer at Akdeniz University's Vocational School of Health Services, allegedly collected money from numerous individuals by claiming high returns from a robot software he said he had developed.
According to the investigation, Fatih A., who began his career as an anesthesia technician in 1999 and later became a lecturer at Akdeniz University's Vocational School of Health Services, told investors from 2024 onward that high profits were being generated from forex and stock market transactions via a robot software he claimed to have developed.
Defrauded healthcare community with high-income promises
The suspect is accused of promising high returns with a monthly interest rate of 1.5 percent on investment and forex transactions, and collecting large sums of money especially from doctors and healthcare professionals.
Allegation: 'His wife was also involved'
According to the investigation, his wife Fatma A., a nurse at a hospital in Antalya, acted as an intermediary for some of the money transfers. Victims sent their money via bank transfer to accounts designated by the suspect, and investigators assess that the fraud was perpetrated through this method.
So far, eight victims have filed complaints with the police, stating they were defrauded of around 225 million lira through the same scheme, and investigators believe the number of victims could rise.
Suspect in France, wife in custody
As part of the investigation, Fatma A. was detained by police. Fatih A., however, could not be detained as it was determined he had left for France on July 1, 2026. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the seizure of the suspects' bank accounts and issued search warrants for Fatih A.'s residence, workplace, and university office.
After her police procedures, Fatma A. was referred to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and was released on judicial control after giving her statement.
'My husband didn't even say goodbye when he left'
In her statement to the prosecutor, Fatma A. denied the charges, saying, 'My husband opened a real estate office under my brother's name for extra income. Neither my husband nor the complainants ever deposited money into my account. I had no knowledge of what Fatih was doing. We have two children. He didn't even say goodbye when he left; he told me he was going to Istanbul. I learned about his escape when a lawyer for one of the complainants called me. I did not participate in any act. The car I use is rented. There was no change in our lifestyle. We used to go abroad together. I do not accept the charges against me.'
