The Interior Ministry announced that the Gendarmerie had conducted operations in 32 provinces targeting drug dealers and illegal cannabis cultivation.
The ministry said the operations resulted in the seizure of 560 kilograms of narcotics and 435,553 drug pills, while 119,772 cannabis and skunk plants were destroyed. Of the 423 suspects detained in the operations, 298 were arrested and judicial control measures were imposed on 125.
9,765 personnel took part
A total of 1,953 narcotics and public order teams and 9,765 personnel took part in the operations conducted by provincial gendarmerie commands under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command’s Counter-Narcotics Department and the chief public prosecutors’ offices. The Counter-Narcotics Department’s Analysis and Tracking Teams also participated in the operations.
The suspects detained were found to have sold drugs through the internet and messaging applications, supplied materials for drug production by cultivating illegal cannabis and skunk, and organized drug trafficking operations.
