MIT intelligence work identified Daesh member Uğur Bahadır, codenamed Abdullah, as having traveled from Türkiye to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
Bahadır was found to have carried out various duties at several Daesh camps in the region. An operation was conducted against Bahadır, who joined the group after traveling to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region in 2024.
Bahadır was captured in the operation and brought to Türkiye. In his initial statement, he provided information about the training he received within Daesh, the tasks assigned to him on behalf of the group and Daesh’s activities in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.

Bahadır was in contact with Özgür Altun, codenamed Abu Yasir Al Turki, who managed the transfer of group members from Türkiye to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. Altun, who is of Turkish origin, directed Bahadır to Daesh and played an active role in transferring group members from Türkiye to the region.
Özgür Altun was captured at the beginning of 2025. Bahadır also acted together in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region with Ahmet Kazancı, codenamed Abu Ubeyde and Abu İbrahim, who operated in Daesh’s so-called media unit.
Ahmet Kazancı was captured at the beginning of 2026. MIT’s efforts also disrupted Daesh’s plans for attacks targeting Türkiye.
