Türkiye's Ministry of National Defense announced that the Mavi Balina-2026 Invitation Exercise, hosted by Türkiye, will be held in the eastern Mediterranean from Nov. 9 to 20, 2026.
In addition to national forces, NATO Standing Maritime Group 2 (SNMG-2), as well as U.S. and Pakistani forces, will participate in the exercise. Indonesia, Morocco, Iraq, Mozambique, Mauritania, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Oman will take part as observers.

According to the ministry's statement, the exercise will involve 8 submarines, 20 surface vessels, 10 air assets, 1 unmanned underwater vehicle and 4,500 personnel.
Organized by the Turkish Naval Forces Command, Mavi Balina is an exercise focused on anti-submarine warfare and submarine search-and-rescue operations. The exercise was held alongside NATO's Dynamic Mariner exercise in 2022.
