Two HÜRKUŞ-II next-generation basic training aircraft, developed using domestic and national capabilities, have arrived at the 2nd Main Jet Base and International Flight Training Center Command under the Air Force Command. The Ministry of National Defense announced that the aircraft reached their new base in Çiğli, İzmir, after a farewell ceremony held at TUSAŞ facilities.
Footage released by the ministry showed the red-and-white aircraft, featuring shark-mouth figures on their noses, departing from in front of a hangar and flying in the air. The aircraft were warmly welcomed by personnel in Çiğli.
HÜRKUŞ-II is the next-generation version of the HÜRKUŞ basic training aircraft developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). The ministry emphasized that the aircraft would strengthen its commitment to training future pilots.
The command in Çiğli is known as one of the centers where Air Force pilot candidates receive flight training. As an international flight training center, the command also provides training to pilots from friendly and allied countries.
