Murat Ongun, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IBB Media A.S. who was arrested alongside Ekrem Imamoglu in the 'corruption' investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), had stated that his joint income with his wife was sufficient to cover the 300,000 lira monthly rent for a luxury villa in Acarkent, and disclosed that he received financial support from Ekrem Imamoglu.
Appearing before a judge in Silivri, Ongun did not answer the prosecutor's question about the rent, saying, 'This matter has no connection with the charges against me. I am the only person being accused for being a tenant. I prefer not to answer.' He could not state the rent of the house he lives in. The prosecutor asked Murat Ongun about the house he lives in.
Ongun, who did not utter a single sentence about the suspicious money flow, also chose to remain silent about the luxury housing rent. THE LANDLORD STATED HE RECEIVED THE RENT IN ADVANCE The owner of the villa in Beykoz Acarkent, where Ongun resides, N. K., had stated in his statement to the prosecutor's office that he received the annual rent of 3 million 717 thousand 400 TL in advance.
Ongun, who also did not explain the financial support he said he previously received from Imamoglu, said, 'My last salary as a presidential advisor was 82,000 TL. The attendance fee from Media A.S. is around 110,000 TL. I have money in monthly repos, which also generates income. My statement to the police is the sum of these three. My house in Beykoz is rented. This matter has no connection with any charge against me.'
