A new survey conducted by the Pew Research Center between February 8 and May 13, 2026, revealed that the majority of adults in 36 countries view Israel negatively. Globally, 67% expressed negative opinions about Israel, while 25% expressed positive views.
The research showed that the negative perception of Israel was particularly pronounced in Muslim-majority countries included in the survey. It was noted that opinions were more negative in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, as well as the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Low trust in Netanyahu
The survey also revealed that trust in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was weak in many countries. In most countries, participants said they had little or no confidence that Netanyahu would do the right thing on world issues.
According to the study, Kenya and the Philippines were the two countries where more than half of the population expressed trust in Netanyahu. In many other countries, trust levels remained low.
Negative views increased
Pew also reported that in 13 of the 24 countries with trend data since 2025, negative views of Israel have increased. Thus, the survey revealed not only the current perception but also the recent trend.
The results indicate that the global view of Israel is becoming increasingly harsh, and the lack of trust in Netanyahu has reinforced this picture. Despite differences between countries, the research showed that the general trend is moving against Israel.
