Fuat Oktay, chair of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye’s Foreign Affairs Commission, said the Mecca Defense Agreement had reached the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye but had not yet been sent to the committee.
Oktay answered journalists’ questions at Parliament in Ankara before receiving Zolbuhar Sarkhad, chair of the Mongolia-Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group, and the accompanying delegation.
Oktay, an Ankara lawmaker from the Justice and Development Party, said a comprehensive and detailed assessment would be conducted with the participation of representatives from all relevant political parties once the agreement reached the committee. He said that no document concerning the agreement had reached his committee at this stage.
Assessment of Netanyahu’s map
Oktay was also asked about a map used by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a presentation that showed Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye on Israel’s side.
Oktay said the agreement must first reach the committee and be examined in detail, adding that they would make their assessment afterward. He said they did not regard Netanyahu as an interlocutor in this context and noted that the map and the elements it contained were not decisive for them.

Signing of the agreement
The Mecca Defense Agreement was signed on August 7 by Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The agreement aims to strengthen the security of the three countries through a shared understanding of deterrence and defense, and to reflect Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s common approach to regional security and stability.
