One person detained in Selcuksport operation

In the ongoing efforts related to the illegal betting crime in Istanbul, a new detention was made. A joint operation was conducted by the Istanbul Police Department Cyber Crimes Division and the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in coordination with the National Intelligence Organization (MİT). During the investigations, it was determined that a website, which streamed Turkey Super League matches for a certain fee and subscription, was broadcasting without authorization. It was also found that users accessing the site were directed to illegal betting sites and encouraged in this way. The suspect named S. Y., identified as the manager of the said website, was detained in a raid at his home in Pamukkale district of Denizli. The investigation continues based on allegations of digital redirection related to illegal betting. Details regarding the scope of the operation and the judicial process concerning the suspect are expected to become clear in the coming period. The connection between unauthorized broadcasting and illegal betting redirection remains at the center of crime investigations conducted in the digital environment. The Istanbul-based operation demonstrated that simultaneous monitoring and operations against such sites continue.
