Paid employment rose 2% in August to 16.4 million
According to TÜİK data for August, the number of paid employees in the industrial, construction and trade-services sectors rose 2% year on year to 16,409,588. The number of paid employees was unchanged on a monthly basis, while it fell 0.2% in industry and increased 0.2% in the trade-services sector.
The total number of paid employees in the industrial, construction and trade-services sectors rose 2% year on year in August. The total number of paid employees thus reached 16,409,588.
In August last year, the total number of paid employees in the same sectors stood at 16,089,037.
Annual change by sector
The number of paid employees fell 1% year on year in industry. It increased 3.4% in construction and 3.3% in the trade-services sector.
Monthly outlook
The total number of paid employees was unchanged in August from the previous month. During the same period, the number fell 0.2% in industry and remained unchanged in construction.
The number of paid employees in the trade-services sector increased 0.2% month on month.
