Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said the Terror-Free Türkiye initiative would contribute to establishing stronger unity within the country and across the region.
Speaking at the closing session of the Bosphorus Diplomacy Forum in Istanbul, Kurtulmuş described the initiative as the first step in a broader regional process.
"We are leaving behind a period lasting more than 40 years"
Kurtulmuş said Türkiye was leaving behind a period lasting more than 40 years, during which thousands had been martyred, tens of thousands had lost their lives, and villages and cities had been destroyed.
Kurtulmuş said Turks, Kurds and other ethnic communities in Türkiye would continue on their path together.
Emphasis on unity and brotherhood
Kurtulmuş said a language based on brotherhood and unity should replace one based on division, fragmentation and exclusion, adding that this approach would extend beyond Türkiye's borders.
Kurtulmuş said Turks, Kurds, Arabs and other communities would draw closer to one another, adding that a strong region free of terrorism would be rebuilt.
