According to information obtained from judicial sources, retired colonel Armağan was asked about the F-4 fighter jets that took off from Malatya Erhaç Airport around the time the helicopter carrying Yazıcıoğlu and his companions crashed on March 25, 2009. On the day of the incident, records show that Ali Armağan and Ahmet Turhan were on the flight with call sign 'D721' and tail number 'HH721' between 14:26 and 15:41, and Ali Armağan and Nihat Biçer were on the flight with call sign 'D720' and tail number 'HH720' between 10:30 and 12...
Investigators showed records indicating that Ali Armağan and Nihat Biçer were on the flight between 12... hours and asked related questions. Armağan claimed he did not fly with F-16 pilots over Kahramanmaraş, and that he was on an interception mission over Sivas when the helicopter crashed, asserting that the information sent by the General Staff was incorrect.
Asked whether he conducted a TAKSAN flight over Kahramanmaraş with F-16 pilots Sedat Kılıçaslan and Tezcan Kaymaz, Armağan defended himself, saying, 'My flight was a rear service flight. I did not take part in a TAKSAN flight.' Regarding the F-4 disappearing from radar at certain moments, Armağan stated, 'The reason the F-4 disappeared from radar for 4 minutes in the flight shown to me is that it was flying at a low altitude that the radar could not detect.'
He added, 'Whether the radar can see the aircraft depends on the terrain. If the flight area is mountainous, the radar cannot display it.'
ADİL ÖKSÜZ AND KEMAL BATMAZ QUESTIONED
It was determined that there were 152 contact records between February 21, 2012 and February 10, 2014 with the phone line used by fugitive Adil Öksüz, the so-called imam of FETÖ's Turkish Armed Forces network, and the line ending in '... 05 50'. Asked whether the operational line ending in '05 50' belonged to him, Armağan claimed, 'The line does not belong to me. I don't remember who used it or whether it was used.' 'Do you know Adil Öksüz and Kemal Batmaz?'
In response to that question, Armağan said: 'I know Kemal Batmaz from the allegations in the file in which I was previously tried and from news reports after the July 15 process. Otherwise, I have no contact with Adil Öksüz and Kemal Batmaz, who are among FETÖ's secret imams.'
He added, 'The reason such allegations are made against me is because my own phone and my wife's phone were served by the same cell tower.' Suspect Şerife Armağan, when asked about her fingerprint being found on a book seized at Öksüz's house in Sakarya that was signed by the ringleader Fetullah Gülen, replied, 'I don't know what that person does. I have no contact with him.'
Armağan was also asked about some notes, names, phone numbers, and IBAN information seized during a search of his residence. Saying that these notes did not belong to him and that he did not know the names and numbers written on them, Armağan stated that the document titled 'Officers who passed the 2004 Air War Academy entrance exam' belonged to his wife.
