The Kyiv-Warsaw train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior security advisers from several European countries was targeted by a Russian drone attack in western Ukraine.
The train also carried the senior security adviser to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as security officials from the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
Because of attacks in the area, the train was stopped at around 5 a.m. approximately 2 kilometers from the Polish border. Passengers and railway workers were evacuated for security reasons.

After the evacuation was completed, a drone believed to belong to Russia struck the train's locomotive. No passengers were on board during the attack, preventing possible loss of life.
Johnson and the accompanying European officials were traveling to Warsaw after attending the YES international security conference in Kyiv.
