Major buildings and towers in Saudi Arabia were illuminated on Saturday night in the colors of the flags of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
The illuminations followed the joint defense agreement signed by the three countries in Mecca. The display was held as part of events celebrating the signing of the agreement.
Tripartite defense agreement
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed a joint defense agreement between the three countries in Mecca on Friday.
The agreement stipulates that any armed attack against one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all of them. The text aims to strengthen joint deterrence and develop defense cooperation.

Years of negotiations
The agreement was signed after years of negotiations between Riyadh, Ankara and Islamabad aimed at creating a basis for joint action against security challenges and military threats.
Through the agreement, the three countries aim to strengthen defense cooperation based on strategic common interests and their existing relations.
