Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and ROKETSAN signed a contract for the supply of the ÇAKIR cruise missile at a ceremony on Oct. 15. SSB President Haluk Görgün and ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci signed the deal.
The contract aims to enhance the strike capability of the Land Forces Command. The number of missiles, contract value and delivery schedule were not disclosed.
Against land and sea targets
Developed by ROKETSAN, ÇAKIR is designed for use against land and sea targets and, with different configurations, can be used in surface-to-surface and air-to-surface missions.
About 200 companies contributed to the project, which ROKETSAN launched with its own resources and continued with SSB support; domestic solutions were used in critical components from the seeker head to the turbojet engine.
In August, ÇAKIR was test-fired from a mobile ground launcher and successfully hit both land and sea targets.
