Thailand ranked first among the overseas destinations preferred by Russian tourists for the New Year holiday, followed by Türkiye and China. The ranking was based on hotel reservations.
Thailand accounted for more than 14% of reservations for the New Year period, while China’s share was recorded at 6.6%. Although no exact reservation rate was disclosed for Türkiye, it ranked second in the list.
The United Arab Emirates and Vietnam were also among the top five overseas destinations most preferred by Russian tourists during the New Year period.
Türkiye among the leading destinations for Russian tourists
The ranking was based on hotel reservations made during a specific period, rather than on air ticket sales or the total number of Russian tourists visiting the countries.
Russian tourists’ preferences can also vary depending on the period examined. In OneTwoTrip’s assessment of the 2025–2026 winter season, Thailand again ranked first with an 18.1% share, while Türkiye ranked fourth with 6.2%.
Italy, France and Spain were also among the countries highlighted in that winter-season study.
Interest in overseas holidays increased
In the 2025–2026 winter season, the share of Russian tourists’ overseas hotel reservations in total reservations rose by 2 percentage points from the previous period to 51%.
The average duration of overseas holidays was calculated at 5.6 days.
