Three separate high-level meetings are planned during Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's visit to Syria on September 13-14.
Fidan is expected to meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and hold a joint news conference afterward. As part of the program, Fidan is also expected to be received by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and meet with Interior Minister Anas Khattab.
Agenda for the meetings
The talks are expected to address multilateral efforts to establish lasting stability, peace and prosperity in Syria, as well as Türkiye-Syria relations. Strengthening the institutional framework and legal basis for cooperation in trade, energy, transport and connectivity will also be on the agenda.
Fidan is also expected to share his assessments of regional connectivity projects and discuss the integration process in Syria. In this context, the latest developments surrounding the Syrian Democratic Forces, particularly the issue of the group's dissolution, are expected to be addressed.
Syria's unity and developments in the south
The meetings will also address strengthening state authority in Syria inclusively and ensuring that all segments of society, including Turkmen, contribute to the country's unity and prosperity on the basis of equal citizenship.
Fidan is expected to say that Türkiye will continue supporting efforts to protect Syria's territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty; strengthen state institutions; accelerate economic recovery; and reestablish regional connectivity.
The visit is also expected to address the situation in southern Syria and possible steps that the international community could take together with Türkiye in response to Israel's actions in Syria.
