The 65th anniversary of the Labor Agreement signed between Türkiye and Germany was commemorated at a program held in Ankara. Germany’s Embassy in Ankara, together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, brought representatives from the political, economic and implementation fields together at the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).
The embassy said the program aimed to support fair, skilled labor migration that would benefit both countries.

A 65-year migration story
The Labor Agreement signed between Türkiye and the Federal Republic of Germany on October 30, 1961, paved the way for hundreds of thousands of Turkish workers to go to Germany. Today, approximately 3 million people of Turkish origin live in Germany. In recent years, Germany has eased its migration legislation to address its shortage of skilled labor.
