President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who is on an official visit to Türkiye, with an official ceremony at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Working Office in Istanbul. After a one-on-one meeting, the two leaders chaired inter-delegation talks and held a joint press conference.
“I see Cambodia, with which our relations have developed rapidly, especially in recent years, as an important partner in Southeast Asia,” Erdoğan said. Recalling that in 2018 he and then-Prime Minister Hun Sen set a goal of raising bilateral trade to $1 billion, Erdoğan said efforts toward that goal continue and expressed hope that the Türkiye-Cambodia Business Forum held that morning would strengthen business ties.
Military Framework Agreement signed
Following the talks, the two countries signed a Military Framework Agreement, with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan signing for Türkiye and Deputy Minister of National Defense Prak Sovanna for Cambodia. Erdoğan said he was pleased with Cambodia’s interest in Turkish defense products and saw serious potential in this area. “Today we signed a framework military agreement. We have taken an extremely important step,” Hun Manet said.

“Founding membership in the Gaza Peace Board is welcome”
“Cambodia’s joining the Gaza Peace Board as a founding member is extremely pleasing,” Erdoğan said, expressing hope it would contribute to a two-state solution in Palestine. He hoped the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute would be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means under international law, adding that aid has so far reached more than 3,000 civilians affected by the clashes in coordination with Cambodian authorities and will continue.
“A new page in our relations”
Hun Manet said Cambodia and Türkiye have maintained friendly relations for more than 60 years and that his visit opens a new page in their deep-rooted ties. Congratulating Türkiye on its strategic autonomy and growing role in regional crises, he said they confirmed significant potential to develop bilateral trade. Erdoğan highlighted projects by TİKA and the Yunus Emre Institute in Cambodia and Cambodian students studying with Türkiye Scholarships.
Ministers Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Yusuf Tekin, Ömer Bolat and Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Defense Industry Agency head Haluk Görgün also attended the signing ceremony.
