AK Party Deputy Chairman Kürşad Zorlu reacted to Greece’s appointment of muftis in Komotini and Xanthi.
In a statement posted on his X account, Zorlu argued that the Greek government was disregarding international agreements related to the Treaty of Lausanne and implementing policies that violate the special rights of the Western Thrace Turkish minority in education and religious affairs.

Stating that the right to elect muftis is guaranteed by international agreements, Zorlu called on Greece’s competent authorities to abandon this stance. Zorlu said they would continue to monitor and defend the rights of Western Thrace Turks.
