Trade Minister Ömer Bolat carried out inspections at the Sarp Border Gate on the country's northeastern edge. In his statement there, Bolat emphasized that the Sarp Border Gate is a crucial international trade, logistics, and transportation corridor opening to all Asian countries.
Minister Bolat stated that Georgia is a valued neighbor for Turkey, noting that the trade volume between the two countries stands at $3 billion. He expressed hope that once the Russia-Ukraine war ends, trade volume at Sarp will increase rapidly and multiply.
Pointing out that Turkey is a country growing through foreign trade, Bolat announced that total exports and imports of goods and services have reached half the national income, amounting to approximately $850 billion. Highlighting the critical role of customs gates, ports, and land border crossings in this trade, Bolat said they are working to provide fast, efficient, modern, and comfortable services.
Bolat said they are happy as the number of ships and trucks departing for exports increases, and announced that a protocol was recently signed for a truck parking lot with a capacity of 1,500 trucks in Hopa. He conveyed that once construction is complete, the long queues of trucks on the Black Sea Coastal Road are expected to decrease.
Recalling that he also visited the Habur Border Gate in Şırnak last week, Bolat said, "We, too, will continue to serve our country and our nation with all our strength and dedication."
As part of his Artvin program, Minister Bolat attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kemalpaşa District Stadium and held a meeting with Arhavi Mayor Turgay Ataselim.
