TRNC e-visas take effect for Syrian citizens traveling there

Türkiye's Embassy in Damascus announced that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has introduced an e-visa system for Syrian citizens, who must apply in advance if they plan to travel there.

Türkiye's Embassy in Damascus announced that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has introduced an e-visa system for Syrian citizens under a regulation adopted by the TRNC authorities. Syrian citizens wishing to travel to the TRNC must first apply through the TRNC e-visa system.

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced in August that the Göç-Sis and E-Visa systems would be introduced to combat irregular migration and strengthen public safety. The e-visa system was set to initially cover citizens of Syria, Nigeria and Armenia and replace consular visas for nationals of those countries.

In August, Türkiye's Embassy in Damascus also announced that the requirement to travel by air for Syrian citizens traveling to Türkiye had been lifted for visas, and that valid visas obtained from the missions could also be used at land border crossings.
