Five irregular migrants found hidden in bus floor in Ankara
Five Afghan irregular migrants were found hidden in a secret compartment in the floor of a passenger bus that arrived in Ankara from Van. The bus driver and his assistant were detained on suspicion of migrant smuggling.
Ankara police teams tracked a passenger bus traveling from Van to Ankara. A search of the bus at the Ankara Intercity Bus Terminal (AŞTİ) found five irregular migrants from Afghanistan hiding in a secret compartment built into the vehicle's floor.
The bus driver and his assistant were detained, while the irregular migrants were handed over to the provincial migration management directorate.
Legal proceedings were launched against the driver and the assistant on charges of migrant smuggling as part of an investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
