LATEST ON WILDFIRES ACROSS TURKEY The fight against forest fires breaking out in various parts of our country continues without interruption under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry, affiliated with the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry. Alongside its aerial power consisting of 28 planes, 119 helicopters and 14 UAVs, the General Directorate of Forestry is on the ground with 1,
953 water tenders, 2,766 first response vehicles and 878 heavy machinery units. Teams stationed at over 1,600 points continue their work 24/7 to respond to fires as quickly as possible. Since July 29, when strong winds began, 206 fires have been tackled across the country, 133 of them outside forests.
Including the most recent blaze in Muğla/Fethiye, 202 of these fires have been fully contained. Of the 4 currently ongoing fires: * Balıkesir/Gömeç * Antalya/Alanya * Mersin/Gülnar-Aydıncık are largely under control, with teams continuing efforts to fully contain them. * In Aydın/Çine, a fire that started yesterday afternoon spread across a wide area due to strong winds.
The firefight has been made more difficult by the intense wind. Even so, teams are putting up a fierce struggle to bring the blaze under control as soon as possible. Extra caution is required against possible forest fires, especially in the provinces of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Bursa, İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, Muğla, Antalya, Mersin and Adana, where temperatures and wind speeds are expected to reach high levels today.
