Türkiye’s Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has denied claims that he resigned.
“The resignation claims circulating about me are baseless. Such speculative reports targeting our country’s economic stability should not be given credence,” Şimşek wrote on X on the evening of September 24.
The Center for Countering Disinformation, part of the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, also said claims that Şimşek had submitted his resignation or made such a request do not reflect the truth.
The center said legal proceedings had been launched against the accounts spreading the baseless content, describing the claims as an attempt to manipulate economic stability and financial markets.
