Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met a Hamas delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya, chief of the group’s political bureau, in Ankara on Friday, the ministry said.

According to Turkish diplomatic sources, the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank topped the agenda. Al-Hayya pointed to accelerating illegal settlement activity and rising attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem, and briefed Fidan on contacts aimed at intra-Palestinian reconciliation.

Fidan said Türkiye would continue to defend the Palestinian cause on every international platform and press ahead with efforts to deliver more humanitarian aid to the region.
