The first snow of the season fell on the highlands of Bolu. Kartalkaya, located in the Köroğlu Mountains and one of Türkiye’s leading ski resorts, turned white under heavy snowfall that began around midday, quickly covering green areas, trees and rooftops.

Snow also fell on the Sarıalan plateau and Mount Arkut in Gerede. Intermittent snowfall is expected to continue in high areas where temperatures dropped to minus 1 degree Celsius. In neighboring Düzce, showers turned to snow at higher altitudes, blanketing the 1,830-meter Kardüz plateau.
Weather warning
The Turkish State Meteorological Service issued a heavy precipitation warning for the Western Black Sea region and said temperatures in inland and western areas would remain below seasonal norms. Officials urged drivers to be cautious about icy roads, especially in the morning and at night, and warned that heavy precipitation could disrupt transport and cause flooding and landslides.

White blanket before ski season
Kartalkaya, which hosts thousands of domestic and foreign visitors in winter, usually opens its ski season in December. The first snow in mid-October drew the attention of visitors to the area.
