UAB Mavi Vatan, the first suction dredger designed in Türkiye and built in Turkish shipyards, has been launched.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said the vessel, whose first block was welded on April 10, 2025, will be put into service after several months of sea trials.

“Our vessel is 85 meters long, with a dredging depth of 20 meters and a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. We will be able to carry out dredging and cleaning work in our gulfs with our own national vessel belonging to our ministry,” Uraloğlu said.
The fully automated UAB Mavi Vatan will be able to dredge while under way. Suction dredgers pump mud and sediment from the seabed to maintain the depth of ports, channels and gulfs and to clean up pollution.
