Yavuz Yıldan, general manager of Miilux OY Türkiye, announced that Türkiye had succeeded in producing domestically the submarine steel used in the MİLDEN national submarine project. This means Türkiye is no longer dependent on foreign supplies of this critical material.
Yıldan made the announcement during the Mavi Vatan TEKNOFEST event held at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard Command in Kocaeli. At the event, the company displayed the first test block made from domestically produced submarine steel.

Serial production preparations completed
Yıldan said submarine steel production was a complex process and that this stage had been reached through cooperation between Miilux OY Türkiye and Erdemir.
Yıldan said Türkiye had previously faced difficulties and embargoes in procuring submarine steel. He added that the company had completed its preparations for serial production and was now able to make deliveries according to the requested schedule and quantities.
First export shipment planned for next week
Miilux OY Türkiye is preparing to make its first export shipment of submarine steel next week.
The Mavi Vatan TEKNOFEST event, which began in Kocaeli on Thursday, focuses on Türkiye's naval power and its domestic capabilities and independence in the defense industry as part of TEKNOFEST 2026.
