Türkiye's September exports rose 15.4% year on year to $26 billion, reaching a record level for the month.
Exports increased 5.2% to $211 billion in the January-September period. Exports over the past 12 months also reached $283.7 billion, setting records across both periods.
Exports increased in 18 sectors
Exports increased in 18 of 26 sectors during the first nine months of the year. The largest increase, 42%, was recorded in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. The sector's exports reached $3.2 billion.
Fresh fruit and vegetables were followed by ships, yachts and services, which recorded a 35% increase and $2 billion in exports, and mining products, which rose 20% to $5.4 billion. Hazelnut and hazelnut products exports increased 19% to $1.9 billion, while defense and aerospace industry exports rose 16% to $6.9 billion.

Olive and olive oil exports decline
Exports from eight sectors declined year on year in the January-September period. The largest drop was recorded in the olive and olive oil sector. Exports in this field fell 28% to $273.7 million.
The decline in olive and olive oil exports was driven by low production last year. Exports of dried fruit and products fell 8%, fruit and vegetable products declined 4%, ready-to-wear clothing and apparel exports dropped 3%, and exports of cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products fell 2%.
Exports of leather and leather products declined to $1.1 billion, furniture, paper and forest products exports fell to $5.8 billion, and exports of ornamental plants and products decreased to $121 million. The decline in each of these three sectors was recorded at 1%.
Mehmet Emre Uygun, president of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association, said the main reason for the decline in olive and olive oil exports was low production last year.
Uygun said one of the highest yields in the history of the Republic was expected during this harvest season. He said the United States, one of the key markets for Turkish olive oil, had imposed an additional 12.5% duty on Turkish olive oil in July, making it more difficult for exporters with low competitiveness to sell in that market.
