Turkish F-16 fighter jets deployed to Somalia were filmed flying low over Mogadishu and landing at Aden Adde International Airport as they returned from a counterterrorism operation.

Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi had confirmed that Türkiye deployed F-16s to support Somali army operations, and Turkish jets were reported to have struck al-Shabaab caves and weapons depots in Lower Shabelle in joint operations. Türkiye also trains Somali troops at TURKSOM, its largest overseas military facility, opened in Mogadishu in 2017.
