Turkish salmon is raised in cages in the Black Sea after reaching a certain weight at farms in inland waters. In the same period last year, exports totaled 55,729 tons and generated $368 million and 877 thousand 760 dollars.
Russia received the most shipments
Russia, Belarus and Vietnam were the leading destinations for Turkish salmon exports from January through September. Exports to Russia were valued at $288 million and 463 thousand 723 dollars, while shipments to Belarus totaled $60 million and 72 thousand 85 dollars, and those to Vietnam reached $17 million and 777 thousand 796 dollars.
Industry focuses on new markets
Hasan Kuzuoğlu, chair of the Aquaculture Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, said exports had increased significantly in both volume and value compared with the same period last year. Kuzuoğlu said they were pleased with the industry’s export performance and that overseas demand for Turkish salmon was rising every year.

Kuzuoğlu announced that efforts to increase exports in existing markets, particularly Russia, Belarus and Vietnam, were continuing. Expanding the reach of Turkish salmon to more countries and increasing market diversification are among the industry’s priorities.
Emphasizing the importance of promotional and commercial efforts targeting new markets, Kuzuoğlu said initiatives to raise awareness of Turkish salmon, particularly in the Far East and other alternative markets, were continuing.
Kuzuoğlu said they expected year-end export figures to reach positive levels, adding that they aimed to increase their share in existing markets and diversify exports by reaching new countries.
