The Trade Ministry evaluated the 2025 international services trade statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute. Türkiye's services exports rose 6.5% from the previous year to $124.9 billion.
Services imports increased 9.6% to $61.9 billion. This surpassed the $121 billion services exports target set for last year.
Record services exports
The ministry said the figure also exceeded the $122.6 billion recorded in balance of payments data previously released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, marking Türkiye's highest-ever services exports.
With this result, Türkiye became the world's 22nd-largest services exporter. Its services trade surplus increased 3.6% annually to $63 billion.
Türkiye ranked sixth worldwide among countries with a services trade surplus. The ministry said this surplus made a significant contribution to financing the current account deficit.
Share of global services trade increased
Türkiye's share of global services exports stood at 0.19% in 1980, when its exports totaled $762 million. The share rose to 0.89% in 2002, with exports of $14 billion, and reached 1.29% in 2025.
Services exports grew by an annual average of 10% between 2002 and 2025. During the same period, global services exports recorded average annual growth of 7.5%.
The ministry said policies and support programs targeting the services sector, a skilled workforce, the efforts of businesspeople, technical infrastructure, Türkiye's geographic location and political stability had increased the country's share of global services trade.
Travel and transport lead the way
Travel services ranked first, accounting for 48.1% of total services exports. Exports in this area rose 6.7% last year to approximately $60 billion.
The logistics and transport sector accounted for 34.1% of total services exports. The sector's exports increased 3.5% annually to $42.6 billion.
Exports of telecommunications, computer and information services rose 25.3% in 2025 from the previous year. Construction followed with a 16.2% increase, while charges for the use of intellectual property rights rose 15.4%.
United States ranks first
The United States ranked first among destinations for Türkiye's services exports, with $8.3 billion. Germany followed with $7.4 billion, and the United Kingdom with $4.3 billion.
European Union countries received the largest share of services exports, totaling $25.3 billion. Services exports to other European countries amounted to $9.3 billion.
