Twenty suspects were detained as part of an investigation into FETÖ conducted by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
As part of the investigation, authorities identified individuals listed in EMAR (Police Confidential Analysis Report) data found on an SD card obtained from a confidential witness codenamed “garson.”
Investigators found that the suspects were in contact with members of the organization’s clandestine structures, held accounts at Bank Asya or had increases in activity on those accounts, and had records of sequential calls. The suspects were assessed to have operated at responsible levels within FETÖ’s clandestine police structure.
Teams conducted simultaneous operations at 21 addresses across six provinces centered in Istanbul to apprehend the suspects, five of whom were active public officials, three of whom had been dismissed from public service and 12 of whom worked in the private sector. All 20 suspects were detained in the operation.
