Ukraine's General Staff announced that since Russia's full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, approximately 1,373,620 Russian soldiers have been lost in Ukraine. The statement added that 1,350 more losses were recorded in the last 24 hours.
The list shared by the General Staff also detailed the military equipment Russia has lost in the war. According to the data, the Russian army has lost 11,989 tanks, 24,700 armored combat vehicles, 104,051 vehicles and fuel tankers, 43,479 artillery systems, and 1,844 multiple rocket launchers.
The statement also reported losses of 1,407 air defense systems, 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 334,063 unmanned aerial vehicles, 1,595 unmanned ground vehicles, 33 ships and boats, and two submarines.
Ukraine's General Staff has not shared figures regarding its own losses throughout the war, citing operational secrecy as the reason.
Assessments from some Western think tanks indicate that Russian losses are significantly higher than Ukrainian losses. The CSIS estimates a ratio of about 2.5 to 1 or 2 to 1, and its January 2026 report suggests Ukraine may have suffered between 500,000 and 600,000 losses from February 2022 to December 2025.
The same report estimates that between 100,000 and 140,000 of these losses were soldiers killed in combat. However, discrepancies can exist between such estimates and official figures released from the battlefield.
